Bound in contemporary calf, roll-tooled borders on the sides with the Royal arms stamped in centre of upper and lower covers, with the arms of Montreal in middle.
With remains of clasps.
Written by numerous hands in cursive script; varying number of long lines per page.
With the inscription "Mrs Banner Price, Beaver Hall Hill" on inside lower cover.
Recipes cover a wide range of dishes, soups, meats, puddings, cakes, pickles, beers, and wines. French influence may be found in certain recipes, while references to Bengali measurements suggest family connections around the Empire.

Maria Ann Jones married John Banner Price, the Assistant Commissary General for Montreal, on 11 Oct. 1834 in Montreal. She died there in 1839.
