William Henry Pearson was born at Brixton, England and came to Canada in 1835. From 1847 to 1854 he was employed in the Toronto Post Office; from 1854 to 1908 he was in the employ of the Consumers' Gas Company of Toronto, of which he became general manager. He died at Toronto on 5 April 1920. He published his reminiscences under the title: Recollections and records of Toronto of old (1914).
